The Wind River Range (or "Winds" for short), is a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains in western Wyoming in the United States. There are more than 40 other named peaks in excess of 12,999 ft (3,962 m). The Wind River Range extends for 100 miles across west Wyoming, merging in the north with the densely wooded hills and valleys east of Jackson Lake, and sloping down more abruptly to high desert plains in the south, at the edge of the Great Basin Divide.
